BGS has almost all types of medical infrastructure required to treat colon cancer. While you will have most facilities under one roof here, certain specialized scans may be referred out. Transrectal ultrasound and Bone Scan / SPECT may be needed during diagnosis stage. These are not available currently, you may be referred out. Robotic surgery is being advocated as a latest surgery technique for colon cancer, its a minimally invasive method of surgery that claims to provide patients faster recovery. Robotic surgery is not yet available in BGS hospital.
 
Clinical trials are believed to be beneficial for cancer patients, most global guidelines encourage patients to inquire about clinical trials that they may benefit from. However, currently clinical trials are not available at BGS.

Up to 12 different types of specialists may be required to treat colon cancer. BGS cancer has almost all these types of specialists. The hospital medical gastroenterology department is headed by Dr. Ravindra BS, who has 11 years of experience as a specialist. In 2017, he performed the first complex procedure on a colo-rectal cancer patient at the hospital using Double Balloon Enteroscopy and capsule endoscopy. These are latest high-end advancements in gastroenterology that provide non-invasive alternatives to surgery. The surgical gastro department has Dr. Manish Joshi and Dr. Nagabhushan JS - both with super specialized qualification in colo-rectal surgery.
 
Professional genetic counseling maybe beneficial to some patients, however, genetic counselor is currently unavailable at BGS. If required, you may be referred out for this specialized test.
